Scottish Grass Sickness Show

Welcome to the show website!

This show is dedicated to the memory of Sykes, my beloved Clydesdale who died of Acute Grass Sickness in October 2009, aged 4 years.

Hundreds of horses die in Scotland every year from Grass Sickness.  Currently, there is no prevention and no cure.

The Equine Grass Sickness Fund is the only registered charity in the world raising funds for research into grass sickness at the Moredun Foundation in Edinburgh.

The Scottish Grass Sickness Show aims to raise as much money as possible for the fund.

We held our first show in 2010 and raised a fantastic £1360 for the fund. The 2011 show raised £1950 which was brilliant.  In 2012 we cleared the £2000 mark and raised £2100 which was amazing.  In 2013 we raised an supendous £2650 (running out of words to describe the totals) and 2014 we reached amazing £2750!!!  In 2015 we raised £2500 which brought the overall total from the past 6 shows to over £13,000 which is an amazing result!

As a result Carol and I were invited down to the Royal Dick Hospital to be introduced to Princess Anne who is the patron of the Equine Grass Sickness Fund.  Something I never expected when organising the first show in 2010!

The schedule will be ready very soon - I am testing a new online entry system to be used if competitors wish to enter online.  You can still enter the usual ways by post etc as well.

Please help by sponsoring a class!!

I tend to use our facebook page for regular updates so keep checking our facebook page...despite the best intentions I never manage to keep the website as up to date as the facebook page!

Please message me / post a comment if you have anything to say.

Come again!!!

Sykes - much missed.
